Supporting Information on Flexibility and Pain "Moves to help w/ flexibility, body pains"
Air Date: April 14, 2022
Story by Lori Corbin
LOS ANGELES (KABC) - Modern technology has made us "chair-borne" and gravity's effect has us rounding forward. Movement therapist Lenny Parracino says this is creating havoc on our body.
"When gravity is acting on us, we don't see it, but we know it's driving us downward. We tend to become more slumped," said Lenny Parracino of AIM Sports Medicine in Hermosa Beach.
Neck
aches, headaches, arms that tingle, lower back pain are all common even if we hit the gym a few times a week.
"Think of your arm as a weight. It's a levered arm to the center, and the farther it gets from the center, the more stress and strain it will place right up by the neck," Parracino said.
Add the weight of your head, which is about 12 to 14 pounds, and the normal blood flow in the nerves in the neck get pinched.
The body tends to tighten up further to protect itself. That's when it's time for what he calls a micro break.
"A micro break is just to stand up at your desk, your workplace, wherever you are and just mobilize your body," Parracino said.

2010 - AIM has moved
We've moved to a new location in Hermosa Beach. Though we miss the community of Manhattan Beach, our new facility is just a couple miles south, just off PCH. It is larger and brighter, and we are now better positioned to provide more services to more people here in the South Bay. Our Open house event was May 19th, 2010 and we invited everyone from professional specialists to AIM clients. It was a great opportunity to get together, share some experiences and even learn a bit of Salsa from one of the local vendors. There's always something going on here so contact AIM and ask to be put on our email newsletter.
Our New Site
AIM has unveiled a new web site this year that helps take us to the next level. Designed by David Austin of CreativeDetailer.com, it takes a multi-media approach providing visitors an inside look into what we do by saying it in our own words. You'll learn how each of our specialists complete our team and what makes AIM the only recovery and fitness resource you need here in the South Bay. There's a lot of good information here and we are expanding it to include more material for other fitness professionals as well as patients. Give us your feedback.
