What Do You Aim For?

We woke up on Jan 1st to a New Year, but 2021 feels very much like a continuation of 2020.

Most of us are still under lockdown orders due to the pandemic. We thought by 2021, the political drama would be over, Covid -19 would be under control, and we could get back to our old lives. Oh well…

We will have to figure out how to have a successful year despite these challenges.

There have been some positives in all this. We have more free time to take up new hobbies. The online stores have had a run on painting and drawing supplies as people are tapping into their inner artists. More of us are eating healthier and perfecting our cooking skills now that we are encouraged to dine at home.

We finally have time to try out all the kitchen gadgets we have collected over the years. We have gotten to spend more time with our pets, our friends, and our families, even if it’s on Zoom. Maybe you have slowed down a bit and even enjoyed more solitude and time for self-care.

So how can we make 2021 a better year? How can You Aim to be a better YOU this year?

After years of hearing we should make big, bold New Year’s Resolutions, Business Experts and Lifestyle Coaches have come to the same conclusion: bigger is not better.

For those of us who dread making resolutions that we know we're not going to keep, this is great news! So forget the promises to go to the gym seven days a week and never eat sugar for the rest of your life; a more effective way to set yourself up for success is by committing to smaller commitments that you know you can keep. Small changes over time will add up to your biggest success.

New Thinking= New Actions= New Results

By reaching for your phone first thing in the morning and checking the news, you are immediately draining your energy. Do not allow yourself to plug into the anxiety and fear continuously running in the background. It will set you up to feel anxious and powerless.

We all need a new soundtrack for 2021 to inspire new thoughts and actions if we want to have a successful year.

How to AIM for Success

Start with the things that you can control-Your Sleep, Your Exercise, and Your Stress.

2021 is the year to focus on your healing. When we feel powerful and confident in our bodies, that translates to every area of our lives. If you want to improve your effectiveness at work, start with your physical performance.

Have you ever accomplished something physically that you thought you could never do?

Have you climbed a mountain? Gone hang gliding or jumped out of an airplane? Ziplined through the jungles of Costa Rica or completed an Iron Man event? How about taking the ice-water plunge?

We have a friend committed to running marathons in all 50 States. He is up to about 43 so far.

Why would someone do that?

When we physically challenge our bodies, we also prove that we can mentally overcome obstacles. As our bodies grow more capable, we become stronger mentally and:

  • Build confidence in our capabilities – mind and body

  • Open our minds to new ideas.

  • Shift old, stuck thinking.

  • Make ourselves more of a Yes to life’s opportunities

  • Let go of old limits.

  • Bring more joy and play to our lives.
